About the Role:

 

Cloud Ops Engineer administers and/or engineers server solutions or applications in support of Umpqua Bank initiatives. Provide high level customer service to bank associates. Assist or advise other TAG teams on technical issues.

 

  • Preparing system solution designs, implementing & maintaining complex enterprise-class systems and applications, analyzing the performance of infrastructure to assist with capacity planning in both public (Microsoft Azure) and private cloud environments. Participate in vulnerability remediation on infrastructure components and Disaster Recovery planning/participation.
  • Learn or use Agile principles in an IT Operations environment
  • Implement Infrastructure As Code (IAC), defining cloud infrastructure in reusable, composable building blocks using tools like Terraform, Bicep or ARM.
  • Measure and improve the performance, uptime, cost, stability, and other operational characteristics of our cloud-based systems using tools like Azure native tools and Dynatrace.
  • Write runbooks and rehearse scenarios to ensure we have an efficient incident response to support our service level agreement and uptime commitments to our customers.
  • Researching, analyzing, recommending, and implementing solutions within their scope and enhancements. Requires the ability to systematically isolate technical issues and provide outstanding technical support to our clients.
  • Sharing rotation of on-call duties after hours and weekends to respond to emergency outages in Azure.
  • Preparing system solution designs, implementing complex enterprise-class systems and applications, analyzing the performance of infrastructure to assist with capacity planning, and performing system upgrades and monitoring the health of all systems, infrastructure and applications.
  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
  • Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
  • May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.

About You:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent required.  
  • 4-7 years’ experience in system or network engineering in a mid-size company with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong coordination, organization, troubleshooting and communication abilities required.
  • Proven experience with building and maintaining cloud systems and infrastructure.
  • You are familiar with Git and understand the role that version control and effective, positive code review has in creating great software.
  • You have a strong understanding of the software development life cycle, and often find yourself seeking and sharing ideas on how to make it better.
  • Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques.
  • You have used Terraform, Ansible, Salt Stack, Bicep or other Infrastructure as Code tools to provision and manage complex systems in a public cloud.
  • You have built, deployed, and hosted applications in a major cloud provider like Azure and understand the underlying technologies that make this possible, including DNS, Load Balancing, Content Distribution Networks, VPC and others.

  • Knowledge of trends in technology in multiple areas.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • Experience developing architecture documentation/Roadmaps.  
  • MCP/MCSA/MCSE.

 

Workstyle: Fully onsite.

We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $74,418.0 to $116,943.20, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
